Buying from Clyde Select

How buying a car from us works

No pressure and no surprises. This is the whole process, start to finish, in plain English.

Four steps

  1. 1

    Browse and ask

Every listing shows the price, photos and the condition notes we know. If something is not listed, ask. We would rather you ask than guess.

  2. 2

    Run the free checks

Ask us for the registration and check the MOT history, tax status and LEZ standard on the official sites before you travel.

  3. 3

    View by appointment

Choose a time that suits you in Glasgow. Take your time, bring someone with you, and use our viewing checklist.

  4. 4

Decide, then sort tax and insurance

If you are happy, agree the sale. Vehicle tax does not move with the car, so tax it in your name and arrange insurance before you drive away.

The paperwork

  • The seller tells the DVLA about the sale, and you get the new keeper slip from the V5C log book.
  • The full log book comes to you from the DVLA in the post.
  • Vehicle tax does not transfer. You need to tax the car before you drive it. You can do that online on GOV.UK.
  • You need insurance in your name before you drive away.

Got a car to sell or part-exchange?

Tell us about it on the sell your car page. We buy some cars and can talk about a part-exchange.

Common questions

Can I see the registration before I view a car?

Yes. Ask us on the car page form or by email and we will send it, so you can run the free MOT history and tax checks first.

Do you offer finance or a warranty?

No. This website does not offer finance or a warranty. Your legal rights when buying from a trader still apply.

Can I part-exchange my car?

You can ask. Send the details on the sell your car page and say you want a part-exchange. We do not take every car.
