Who we are

Clyde Select sells used cars in the Glasgow area and helps people with car problems. For privacy questions, email [email protected]. You can also message the Facebook page, which is run by Facebook under its own rules.

What the forms collect

The forms on this site are: get help (any car problem), sell your car, arrange a viewing, car help (parts, repairs and MOT fails), the car finder, and the garage list. Depending on the form, they ask for:

  • Your name
  • A phone number, an email address, or both
  • The car you are asking about, or the car you want to sell, including registration, mileage, condition and asking price where the form asks for them
  • For car help: the make, model and year, what is wrong or what part you need, and the first half of your postcode only (for example G41)
  • For the car finder: your budget and what kind of car you need
  • For the garage list: the business name, area, services and website
  • Optional photos, if you attach them

A hidden field on the form is there to catch automated spam. Please leave it empty.

Why we collect it

We use those details to reply to you, arrange a viewing, or decide whether we are interested in buying a car. We do not sell the details, and we do not use them for a mailing list.

Who receives it

Form messages are emailed to the Clyde Select inbox. The public address is [email protected]. Photos are attached only so we can look at the car you described.

For get help and car help requests, we may share the car details and the problem with parts sellers or garages to get prices. We do not pass on your name, phone number or email without asking you first. A registration you give us is used to match parts and is never shown on the website.

How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry while we are dealing with it, and for a short time afterwards if a sale or a purchase goes ahead. Then we delete it. A copy of each request is also kept in a private, password-protected list on Cloudflare so we do not miss any. That copy is deleted automatically after six months. Photos are not stored there. You can ask us to delete your details sooner.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

MOT history check and recall search

When you use the free MOT history check, the registration you type is sent from our server to the DVSA MOT history service to fetch the record. To avoid asking the DVSA for the same car again and again, the answer is kept in Cloudflare's cache for up to an hour, then dropped. We do not save registrations, link them to you, or show them on the website. The recall search only sends the make, model and year you choose. The salvage profit calculator works in your browser and sends nothing.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and the forms do not set a cookie. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set a cookie that is needed to deliver the pages securely. We do not use that for marketing.

Visit statistics

To see which pages help people and which parts of the site do not work, we count how the website is used. This is done by our own small script on this website, not by an advertising or tracking company. It does not use cookies.

When you visit, your browser sends us:

  • The pages you open on this site, in order, how long each one is on screen and how far down you scroll
  • The website you came from (for example Google or Facebook) and any campaign name in the link
  • The type of device (phone, tablet or computer)
  • Rough location worked out by Cloudflare from your connection: the country, and the town or city if you are in the UK
  • Which buttons and links you use, for example sending or starting a form, a WhatsApp or Facebook link, a link to another website, the car filters, compare, the running cost calculator or the MOT history check (never the registration). We record that a form was started or sent, not what you typed into it
  • When a page is missing

Nothing is sent until you tap, click, scroll or press a key on a page you can see, so pages opened in the background and automated visits are not counted. To leave out automated traffic, our server also checks the browser type and what Cloudflare says about the connection (for example, whether it comes from a known bot or a cloud server company). That check decides whether the visit is counted. It is not stored.

To join up the pages of one visit, the script makes a random number and keeps it in your browser only for that visit (it is gone when you close the tab or after 30 minutes of nothing happening). We do not store your IP address, your browser details or anything that identifies you, and we cannot see what you do on other websites before or after you visit.

Each night the visit records are added up into daily totals, such as visits per page and the most common last page, and the individual records are deleted. They are never kept for more than about two days. The daily totals are kept for 13 months and then deleted automatically. Only Clyde Select sees them. They are stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and are used only to improve this website.

This is allowed under UK law without asking first, as long as we tell you and you can easily say no (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, statistical purposes exception, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025). Our reason for using the data is our legitimate interest in running a website that works for the people using it.

You can say no. Press the button below to stop this browser sending visit statistics. We also do not collect them if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. Opting out does not change how the site or the forms work.

Checking your setting…

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-free, to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not identify you or track you across other websites.
